Mirror

Create a reflected geometric arrangement about a plane.

Create a reflected geometric arrangement about a plane.

Where to find it

Geometry workspace; System → Geometry

How to use it

Choose the input objects and mirror plane before building. Choose Build All Geometry to update Graphics.

Settings and initial values

SettingInitial valueMeaning
ObjectsallSelect earlier objects by label or a named selection; comma or semicolon separates labels and all selects available inputs. Confirm the highlight so an unrelated object is not transformed.
Keep input entitiestrueWhen enabled, retain the original selected objects as well as the operation result. When disabled, replace the selected inputs with the result. Retained overlapping solids can require different material or mesh selections; inspect them before solving.
Normal X1Set the dimensionless x component of the mirror-plane normal. It is normalized; Point X/Y/Z locate the plane. Use a nonzero vector and inspect which side receives the reflected object.
Normal Y0Set the dimensionless y component of the mirror-plane normal. It is normalized; Point X/Y/Z locate the plane. Use a nonzero vector and inspect which side receives the reflected object.
Normal Z0Set the dimensionless z component of the mirror-plane normal. It is normalized; Point X/Y/Z locate the plane. Use a nonzero vector and inspect which side receives the reflected object.
Point X0[m]Set the global x coordinate of a point on the mirror plane, in metres or compatible units. The Normal vector sets orientation; this point sets plane position.
Point Y0[m]Set the global y coordinate of a point on the mirror plane, in metres or compatible units. The Normal vector sets orientation; this point sets plane position.
Point Z0[m]Set the global z coordinate of a point on the mirror plane, in metres or compatible units. The Normal vector sets orientation; this point sets plane position.

Result

Built solids and their selectable entities appear in Graphics.

Troubleshooting

The reflected orientation can change which faces should receive a load or boundary condition.
