Regular Polygon Profile

Draw a planar outline with equal sides and evenly spaced vertices.

Draw a planar outline with equal sides and evenly spaced vertices.

Where to find it

Geometry workspace; System → Geometry

How to use it

Set its side count, size and orientation on the work plane. Choose Build All Geometry to update Graphics.

Settings and initial values

SettingInitial valueMeaning
Work planeWork Plane 1Choose the label of an earlier Work Plane in the geometry sequence. Its center and local u/v directions place the profile in space. Correct a missing-plane warning before using the profile; the fallback plane is not proof that the intended reference was found.
Sides6Choose an integer with at least 3 sides. The current calculation rounds to the nearest integer and enforces a minimum of 3. More sides create a different polygon, not a smooth circular edge.
Radius0.4[m]Set the circumradius from the polygon center to a vertex, not the distance to the middle of a side. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Center U0[m]Offset the profile center along local u from the selected work plane center. Values are lengths in metres or compatible units, not global coordinates. Tilting the work plane tilts these local directions.
Center V0[m]Offset the profile center along local v from the selected work plane center. Values are lengths in metres or compatible units, not global coordinates. Tilting the work plane tilts these local directions.
Rotation0[deg]Rotate the first vertex from local +u toward local +v in the work plane. Unitless values are radians; use explicit units such as 90[deg] for a quarter turn. This changes the orientation of the polygon, not the work plane.

Result

Built solids and their selectable entities appear in Graphics.

Troubleshooting

The circumradius and across-flat distance describe different sizes; follow the selected field's meaning.
