Work Plane

Place a local plane for creating two-dimensional profiles used by later solid operations.

Geometry workspace; System → Geometry

How to use it

Set the plane position and orientation, then add profiles on that plane. Choose Build All Geometry to update Graphics.

Settings and initial values

OriginCenterCenter places the profile center at Position X, Position Y and Offset Z. Corner adds half Width along local u and half Height along local v. These offsets follow the plane orientation, not necessarily global x and y.
Width1[m]Set the extent of the plane's rectangular profile along local u. It can be used directly as an extrusion profile. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Height1[m]Set the extent of the plane's rectangular profile along local v. It is not a thickness or solid volume. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Position X0[m]Set the global x coordinate of the work-plane reference point in metres or compatible units. Offset Z is the global z coordinate, not a displacement along a tilted plane normal. Origin determines whether this point is its center or local corner.
Position Y0[m]Set the global y coordinate of the work-plane reference point in metres or compatible units. Offset Z is the global z coordinate, not a displacement along a tilted plane normal. Origin determines whether this point is its center or local corner.
Offset Z0[m]Set the global z coordinate of the work-plane reference point in metres or compatible units. Offset Z is the global z coordinate, not a displacement along a tilted plane normal. Origin determines whether this point is its center or local corner.
Axis X0Set the dimensionless x component of the work-plane normal. The three components are normalized, so their magnitude does not change the object size. Use a nonzero vector; a zero vector currently falls back to global +z.
Axis Y0Set the dimensionless y component of the work-plane normal. The three components are normalized, so their magnitude does not change the object size. Use a nonzero vector; a zero vector currently falls back to global +z.
Axis Z1Set the dimensionless z component of the work-plane normal. The three components are normalized, so their magnitude does not change the object size. Use a nonzero vector; a zero vector currently falls back to global +z.

Result

Built solids and their selectable entities appear in Graphics.

Troubleshooting

A profile on the wrong plane may look correct from one view but extrude in the wrong direction.
