Block

Create a rectangular solid, such as a beam, plate or enclosure blank.

Create a rectangular solid, such as a beam, plate or enclosure blank.

Where to find it

Geometry workspace; System → Geometry

How to use it

Set Length, Width and Height, choose the origin convention, and enter Position X, Position Y and Position Z. Choose Build All Geometry to update Graphics.

Settings and initial values

SettingInitial valueMeaning
OriginCornerCorner places the minimum x, y and z corner at Position X, Position Y and Position Z. Center places the block center at those coordinates, extending half of Length, Width and Height in each direction. Changing Origin without changing the coordinates moves the solid; it does not change its dimensions.
Length1[m]Set the full x dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Width1[m]Set the full y dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Height1[m]Set the full z dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm].
Position X0[m]Set the global x coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units.
Position Y0[m]Set the global y coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units.
Position Z0[m]Set the global z coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units.

Result

Built solids and their selectable entities appear in Graphics.

Troubleshooting

Use positive dimensions. If the solid is off screen after building, reset the view before changing its size.
