Create a rectangular solid, such as a beam, plate or enclosure blank.
Create a rectangular solid, such as a beam, plate or enclosure blank.
Where to find it
Geometry workspace; System → Geometry
How to use it
Set Length, Width and Height, choose the origin convention, and enter Position X, Position Y and Position Z. Choose Build All Geometry to update Graphics.
Settings and initial values
| Setting | Initial value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Corner | Corner places the minimum x, y and z corner at Position X, Position Y and Position Z. Center places the block center at those coordinates, extending half of Length, Width and Height in each direction. Changing Origin without changing the coordinates moves the solid; it does not change its dimensions. |
| Length | 1[m] | Set the full x dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm]. |
| Width | 1[m] | Set the full y dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm]. |
| Height | 1[m] | Set the full z dimension of the rectangular solid. Use a positive length in metres or compatible units, such as 10[mm]. |
| Position X | 0[m] | Set the global x coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units. |
| Position Y | 0[m] | Set the global y coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units. |
| Position Z | 0[m] | Set the global z coordinate of the point chosen by Origin: the minimum corner or the center of the block. Use metres or compatible length units. |
Result
Built solids and their selectable entities appear in Graphics.
Troubleshooting
Use positive dimensions. If the solid is off screen after building, reset the view before changing its size.
