Choose a starting level of geometric mesh resolution.

Location

Mesh → Free Tetrahedral → Size → Preset

Initial value: Moderate.

Very coarse through Very fine derive size targets from the geometry span. Selecting a preset resets Maximum element size and Minimum element size to auto and updates the Netgen grading, edge and curvature controls. Custom retains individually edited controls; it is not itself a length.

Using the value

Start with Moderate, build and inspect the mesh, then refine the mesh and compare the result you need. Select Custom for individual sizing.

Troubleshooting

A finer preset can increase memory and solve time sharply. It does not establish solution convergence by itself.
