Grading

Control how quickly the Netgen target size changes across the mesh.

Location

Mesh → Free Tetrahedral → Size → Grading

Initial value: 0.3.

Use a finite positive dimensionless Netgen grading value. Smaller preset values request more gradual size transitions, which may require more elements between fine and coarse regions.

Using the value

Begin with the preset value; reduce abrupt size transitions where they affect mesh quality and rebuild.

Troubleshooting

Zero, negative and non-finite values are rejected. Inspect the mesh instead of assuming a grading change fixes invalid geometry.
