Target relative error

Set the stopping target for the solution-driven recovery estimate.

Set the stopping target for the solution-driven recovery estimate.

Location

Mesh → Mesh Adaptation → Target relative error

Initial value: 0.05.

Enter a positive fraction less than 1: 0.05 means 5%. This is a normalized recovered-gradient estimate from nodal state fields, not a certified bound on stress, flux or another chosen output. Naive adaptation does not use it for error control.

Using the value

Choose a target, run a supported Stationary study and check the reported estimate as well as independent mesh convergence.

Troubleshooting

Cell-only derived results cannot supply the required nodal state. A lower target may need more cycles and elements.
