Bulk marking fraction

Choose how much estimated error drives local refinement.

Choose how much estimated error drives local refinement.

Location

Mesh → Mesh Adaptation → Bulk marking fraction

Initial value: 0.5.

Use a positive fraction at most 1. Elements are sorted by squared error indicator and marked until their cumulative contribution reaches this fraction of the total; 0.5 targets half the squared error, not a percentage of elements. This is used by Solution-driven adaptation.

Using the value

Start with the default and inspect where the estimator places refinement.

Troubleshooting

If no elements are marked, inspect the estimated error and state fields; a zero indicator does not automatically validate every engineering output.
