Maximum elements

Set an element-count safety bound for adaptation.

Set an element-count safety bound for adaptation.

Location

Mesh → Mesh Adaptation → Maximum elements

Initial value: 1000000.

Use a positive integer count of tetrahedral elements, not nodes or degrees of freedom. Solution-driven adaptation checks the current and trial mesh against this cap; it is not a target mesh density.

Using the value

Choose a cap consistent with available memory and the planned study.

Troubleshooting

If the current mesh already exceeds the limit, reduce resolution or raise the limit only after checking capacity. Naive sizing is not an error-controlled element-count optimizer.
