Minimum through-thickness elements

Set the minimum short-direction resolution used by the structured sizing rule.

Set the minimum short-direction resolution used by the structured sizing rule.

Location

Mesh → Distribution → Minimum through-thickness elements

Initial value: 2.

Enter a positive integer minimum-edge division requirement. The supported structured meshing path takes the largest global requirement from Swept / Mapped, Boundary Layer and Distribution, subject to the structured-mesh resource limit. It is not an exact count on every selected edge. For Distribution this value takes precedence over Elements.

Using the value

Choose enough divisions to inspect thin-region gradients, build the mesh and compare with finer resolution.

Troubleshooting

If the configured minimum-edge limit is exceeded, reduce the requested count or review Application Settings → Resources before raising the limit. Do not assume an unstructured mesh has a mapped layer layout.
