Structural Mechanics

Analyze solid deformation, stress and reaction to mechanical loading.

Analyze solid deformation, stress and reaction to mechanical loading.

Where to find it

Physics → Add Physics → Structural Mechanics; System → physics node

How to use it

Assign a material, select the solid domains, add a Fixed Constraint or another sufficient support, and apply a body or boundary load. Choose an available study in System Solvers and run it after building any required mesh.

Result

Plot displacement and stress after solving. Compare stress away from idealized point loads and sharp re-entrant corners when checking mesh convergence.

Troubleshooting

A free rigid-body motion can make a stationary model singular. Check supports, load units and material stiffness before changing solver settings.
