Set up an optimization objective, choose a compatible method and judge the resulting design.
Optimization
Begin with a model that solves successfully. Define a scalar objective, design variables with bounds, and any constraints; then choose a compatible method. Review iteration, evaluation and time limits before running. At completion, check constraint violations and termination reason and solve the final design again where appropriate. An iteration or time limit is a stopping budget, not a convergence certificate.
